Photo of inspiration

Half way photo

I joined to made this game and I created this idea, provide the expressions photo, the harmony are faces of different expressions, the rhythms are different expressions, the repetition is that "the same face", all expressions are from one person's face. And the patterns are different small faces. And the tessellation is made of small squares, the closure of the game is with pairs of expressions.

The variety and contrast is the different expressions and sentiments of faces on the cards.

And the balance is that asymmetrical balance, maybe some of them(faces in the cards) are horizontal balance.

And for the proportion, we use the normal ratio, and there are only hands without hands and other parts of the body, those faces have the normal radio of our mouths and noses and eyes.

We didn't make any parts of the art work prominent, the dominance of this art work is "the expressions ideas", those funny faces made up the dominance of this art work.

Our eyes totally move around the game, at the same time we also need memorize those faces.

We made this game simple, here is the direction of this game:

DIRECTION

We turn over two cards every turn of one person, the point is memorize, memorize every your two cards faces and also others' cards faces. If you turn over two same faces cards then you got one score, if those cards which turned over by you are different faces then you just turned over them again.

Favorite daily sketch object

Those two sketches are my favorite because I created them at the same day. At that time I have lots inspiration so I finished them quickly, that feeling made me feel awesome. And when I see this two objects I will have inspiration to draw so I like them,

Favorite art journal

Those two paintings are my favorite art jounal, actual they are two steps of "who are you" project. I love this cause they look cool and unique. This work made me thought of good memory when I was in China and stayed with my family when the spring festival came.

Art journal who am I

First of all, I did this artwork because of my nation--China. I study abroad but I really miss my country and Chinese culture, it means a lot to me, so I did this project. This word means dragon in Chinese. You must wonder why it's dragon, cause since thousands years ago, Chinese people called themselves "the generation of dragon". And the below four words also means that.

This word symbolize "lucky" and a holy power at the same time, it symbolize the new year with family for me cause when we have a new year people would put paper-cut on their windows with this word. And the texture is abstract, cause I change half of the word to the shape of two dragons.The value is crossing-hating and shade. And there is only ink, which is black color, so it's black color palette. And the element, form is asymmetrical, cause it's a strange word, it's also a two-dimensional work. And the type of line it's tortuous and thick, it doesn't actually have their directions, Chinese ink-wringing is a way of expressing feelings, it absolutely depends on the feeling of artists, it can be thin or thick anytime.

And I only use ink and pencil to drew. I used pencil to drew the main shape then I use ink and brushes to finished the color of the words. Actually the word don't need to be drawn first, I mostly used the pencil to drew the shape the circle which around the word. The circle made it like a traditional chimes stamp, old Chinese royals used them to make sure

Their identities. I like this work in total.

Art critique

Essay 3

This time, I am gonna share my thoughts and ideas about Kerwin's art project. He did a project about Van Gogh's Starry Night. When I first saw this picture, I was addicted by the stars part which is yellow and blue, cause other part of sky is light blue but the part around stars is deep blue, so it seems out stand. Then, the yellow buildings leads my eyes around from stars to them, cause they have the same bright yellow color with little orange. I feel like this work that created by Kerwin is more relaxing and delighting than the original work. Cause he changed the deep color tongue to light and bright color tongue, also seems simpler. I guess he was happy when he created it. If I can I'd name it as "Starry Day" cause it doesn't seem like night, the light blue sky makes it like daytime. However, I think the colors are simple and neat, and colors also very light tint and bright which means a happy and positive tongue. And Kerwin chose this work to recreate cause he told me that he liked Van Gogh. To the whole recreation, I can see the white paper color which means he drew it in a sparse way, he used tint tongue, he changed the whole work into a positive way, I think he did a good job but he needs to improve his painting skills at the same time.

Artist statement and project

The artist name is Picasso. The name of the work is The Woman With Hat. I chose to recreate this work cause I love the style of this work -- abstract cubism style, Picasso is very good at this style as well. In total, one of the reason is that is my favorite artist's project. And more, it's in my favorite
Cubism abstract style, I want to try if I can do the style when I recreate it.

And this work look really simple, just like a work which is decorated with one a part of your house. Makes me feel like it symbolize the most relaxing part of building design. It's blue and deep red, those two color which looks totally inrelative even take a good balance toward our eyes. Blue is one of my favorite color maybe that's one of the reason why I chose it. It a cold color which means cool tone. So I decided to change it in a warm tone like pink.

When I created the six sketches, I was considering to traw all of the stuff with pink. So I draw pink watermelon in different ways--to see the effect of all pink stuff. But the result is that it looks so sweet and girly. So I used a deep pink color when I recreate the work.

But unluckily, the deep pink color looks totally like another color--purple. I don't like purple at all, so when I got a half of the work, I change whole project in blue. That's why it had two different color into the the process and the result of the work.

I did this with a secondary color palettes.

To made the project my own, I change the tone of the project and I used a single tone. I feel like it looks more simple by this way.

#4add: I used paint instead of others cause I've drawn by watercolor for 6 years I can use them we'll and I want to try new things-paint. I've never use it as well. I know how to change and render the colors by use watercolor and water so I want to learn how to change paint's colors. I don't like cardboard cause they can't show colors' deep and light very we'll or use canvas it's too waste. To draw them in paint I found out I can't use water to change the color, I can only cover them.
